The Kansas Horse Council is hosting their first annual membership appreciation – “Fall in the Flint Hills" trail ride Oct 18-19 at the Kansas Working Ranch Adventures, LLC, hosted by Brian and Lisa Keith, Allen, KS, just east of Council Grove. Enjoy long rides across the beautiful Flint Hills prairie and cross one of the longest stretches of wagon ruts from the historic Santa Fe Trail. We will be riding across 3,000 acres of tall grass prairie where you can ride for miles without seeing a road or power line. It doesn't get any better than seeing wildflowers, grazing cattle, prairie chickens and other wildlife along with scenic views across the prairie framed by great sunrises and sunsets. Come relax and enjoy the history of the Flint Hills, with good food, entertainment and fellowship! Trail ride is limited to 100 people. $75 for KHC members; $100 for non-members and $50 for non-riding guests. Primitive camping. Limited number of pens available by reservation only. Coggins required. No dogs. Bring own feed, hay & lawn chairs. For reservations, contact Pattie Stalder at 785-776-0662. www.kansashorsecouncil.com
