Hey cowgirls, it's time to start thinking about the Fall Cowgirl Cattle Drive and bringing the heifers home. Oct. 18-19 (Tues-Wed) is the date and the headquarters will be at Josh & Gwen Hoy's Flying W Ranch, Clements, KS. Contact Gwen at 620-340-2802 or 620-274-4357 for reservations & costs for her bunkhouse & horse pens. Price for the ride will be the same as the Spring Cowgirl Cattle Drive - $125. Contact Rex Buchman at 620-794-5332 or brbuchman@gmail.com for more information or to reserve a spot.

Here's the plan for Bringing the Heifer's Home:

Arrive Oct 18 at 12:30 pm at Fox Creek Ranch (North of Strong City on Hwy 177) fed, watered & ready to ride.  Will get our horses used to cattle & bring in some heifers here.  After that we will go to the Flying W to stay & pen our horses overnight.  Josh & Gwen will treat us to a cowgirl dinner.  Rex will entertain us with stories around the campfire.  Next morning, Oct 19, we will have a Flying W breakfast and trailer to Hymer to round up the heifers we took to pasture last spring.  A sack lunch will be provided.  After our roundup, everyone will be treated to one of Gwen's delicious burritos for the drive home.  The cost for the cattle drive will be $125 paid directly to Rex.

Please contact Gwen Hoy at 620-274-4357 to reserve a room in the bunkhouse and a pen for your horse for the evening of Tues, Oct 18.  The price for lodging, pen, dinner and breakfast is $87.50 payable to the Flying W Ranch.

So far we have 8 cowgirls who will be participating.  If you know of anyone else who would like to join us, please feel free to contact them.  Or if you would like to bring your husband, please let Rex know.  620-794-5332.

While in Cottonwood Falls, be sure to visit Jim Bell & Son for some western retail therapy www.jimbellandson.com and have a wonderful steak dinner at the Grand Central Hotel (reservations required 620-273-6763) or eat at the Emma Chase Café.
